Well, Its FRIDAY!! So fast first week over le. But here is the blog entry of yesterday:
The staff told us that he solved the problem, its because of the old version of the software that corrupts the file that caused the problem, so the solution is to reinstall. BUT that doesnt solve the hidden problem, though we are able to generate the file, we cannot load the server program and the client program, which ends up, we need to format the whole computer and reinstall windows.
Everything went well until another weird problem appear. Even the staff saw the problem the first time, and the key problem is about windows XP, that sharing a network is not as easy as 98 or 2000. Alot of blocking was created by XP to prevent intrution, ya, good in one sense, but bad for us, I been trying to make the network appear but it keeps talking about permissions to be granted by the admin. Finally, we break down the network and able to enter. But it still doesnt work. So we actually decided to reformat the computer and pin it into windows 2000 for easy access.
For those that dun know, this is the general knowledge about windows: Before XP appears, Windows 98 have been the most friendly OS that was created by Microsoft, even when XP appears, there are several problems regarding the network and the virus that makes XP not a good choice. When Windows 2000 appear, it is still not as friendly as 98, (Rem the auto reboot virus that invaded Microsoft? Only Windows 98 will not get the virus) but soon, we have to move on to XP, due to the popular usage of XP, costs everyone have to change to XP. The network was not an issue by then, for computer ITs and company, because most of the time, they are connected to their own intranet before going to internet, So a Domain will be created and router or bridge will be used to route the computers. But for personal usage, 2 or more computers cannot auto route to another computer,(If you have a router at home, its different, but let say you using a hub or switch) Because switch and hub are old version of router, it does not generate any IP recongization, so let say both your com sets different IP group, the switch wont detect this error. But of course you cannot connect to the other computer. So thats the XP software issue, where it because too automated, that the users will not realise the network issues. But it is still possible to make a network group of your computers, so, just get a router and everything will be solved.
Going back, the main problem of our program is that, it does not recongize the client side of the computer, which also create a problem that the client is not update inside the system itself, and it wont work. And without the network, 2 of the computers cannot talk to each other, and so we have this 2 big problems in hand, that in the end, we decided to change back to 2000 first, as the supervisor ask the IT creator in FRANCE.
So thats all. there are certain key things that I also took down on my notes. So I wont mention it here.
Side note: The PRC guy, hmm he did nothing la, because all the time, me and the staff was adjusting the network issues and I did the reinstall of the windows also. :) Oh well, he did ask me stupid questions that I wanted to tell him: "Do I seem to know what the program is?" Haha!! That is so funny, but I din, I just act blur.
