I was reading clay's blog which then lead me to go to youtube to view the videos again, and in return, seeing those comments leave by the people. Which makes me very sad, and disappointed on how people look at things. But I wont really blame them because, they are individuals and everyone think differently and not everyone is a cheerleader. But its kinda of sad to know that people will actually not take risks to see whether they can achieve the challenges or will just stay at that position knowing they be safe here.
But I will like to highlight something is, how safe can be safe? Does staying in that level means that you be safe from be expelled in future? Does you ever want to move up another level? Most of us will say, of course not, I will want to go up and see how much I can do.. Yes thats what I meant. Magnum can stay all the way, with 111, 221, blah blah blah.. All the common stunts and difficutly that we did every now and then. Look at the seniors during the competition in the Kindness Movement Competition and you understand that, we seniors can achieve that, but does that means we wanted our juniors to stay on that pace? Not exactly, its safe to say that if we keep doing those stunts, we might maintain the championship, but thats not magnum's only objective. Magnum's goals is to achieve greater heights, achieve more diffcult stunts, and working towards the international level. Ya, its a big impossible written down, but think about this, which oversea teams never try for higher level? You talk to a SSC gymnas coach, they will say, everyone can tumble, can spin, and do a twist layout. But the different will be, whether you want to try something new, difficult, seems impossible. You see the SEA games, and people fall from their moves or lose balance, its not because the moves are not nice, its just the difficulty level and the luck. They might be very successful during the training, but in competition, its whole lots different. Same goes to magnum, I being down to their training, and I initally thought that its a firm hold of the return, but neverthless, luck still plays a part, and experience, 90% of the team is juniors and never expose to pressure in the competition, the tense and the pressure, is totally different from performing. Its a competition that we are talking about. If they are an old timers , then speak differently, but they not, all of them is having their first time in it and I proud to say they did their best and nothing luck, lady luck is not with them this year and maybe she will come to us next year. And this year's competition bring us closer and teach them alot.
I somehow wonder, maybe its good to learn from falls, than from a straight victory that says we are good. Amature is still amature, learn from mistakes and achieve better is better than one shot give you gold and say you good. But you never know where you bad at.
Let say the champion team went for the international competition in JAPAN this time round, with that routine, not even a scratch to the other teams, no I not saying that their routine sucks, but its because of the simpicity and no sense of difficulty is felt. You go there, showing them all the 111 221, they will be thinking, just like tat? See how the others do a twist layout, or a 223, or some other mouth dropping stunts, and you will know that singapore cannot just stay with that kind of stunts to move on. Thats why, magnum have seen many oversea teams performed, in TV, live.. That it shows how shallow we still are, and if we never try, we could be in the 90th position in 10 years round during any international games.
Wow, thats lot to say. Oh well, to those that comments, its really time to wake up from the safe zone dream and move into the yellow zone, or else, Singapore cant move on, not just magnum. :)
